The Safety Administrator will plan, organize, schedule and conduct inspections of facilities, work areas and equipment in accordance with company and outside agency policies. They will monitor site conditions, practices and procedures for compliance. They must select and implement corrective actions and follow-up to ensure that proper action has been taken.
More specifically:
1) Acts to resolve safety incidents and safety infractions.
2) Administers safety policies, training, guidance and leadership.
3) Advises all field personnel on safety issues.
4) Analyzes worksite activities to identify and implement appropriate safety strategies.
5) Applies defined safety rules and procedures when conducting safety audits.
6) Assures field personnel that the safety administrator is a professional and that decisions made in the field are according to established safety protocol.
7) Controls and directs the activities of field personnel during emergencies and stop the job if unsafe conditions exist.
8) Performs the duties of the job by interacting with the field employees regardless of difficult worksite locations.
9) Follows-up with worksite personnel to ensure that safety recommendations are implemented.
10) Collaborates with all levels of personnel (craftworkers, project engineers, superintendents, client representatives and others to ensure that safety is given full consideration.
Required Experience:
Three years experience in position-related activities, i.e. serving as Safety Officer, Director, Engineer, coordinator on the type of construction projects on which he/she will be servicing, as well as good background in general construction safety.
Required Education:
Degree preferred, but not required.
